Location

Woods & Waters and the Les Cheneaux Islands are only 30 minutes from the Mackinac Bridge and St. Ignace — 40 minutes from Mackinaw City (plan a few extra minutes for the toll booth; $4.00 cash/credit for passenger cars) or the Soo (Sault Ste. Marie) — 1.5 hours from Petoskey and Harbor Springs — and 1.75 hours from Tahquamenon Falls and the Whitefish Point area (where the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum is located). If you're hiking the Narnia Trail (Bush Bay Trail), you'll be driving right past us. A guided kayak tour is a natural next stop.

The Les Cheneaux Islands area is anchored by the small year-round communities of Hessel and Cedarville in Michigan's eastern Upper Peninsula — closer to Mackinac Island than you might think, and a natural next stop for anyone exploring the Straits region. Even boaters can find deep-water slips at Hessel Marina after a quick cruise (about 17 nautical miles).

Directions (we've moved!)

If crossing the Mackinac Bridge from the lower peninsula, continue on I-75 north through St. Ignace. Drive north 15 miles and take Exit 359 for Les Cheneaux / Pickford / Drummond Island. Turn right (east) onto M-134 and meander for about 16 miles. We are east of the Hessel blinking light by 2.6 miles, and 0.1 miles east of the Four Mile Block intersection directly across the road from Autore Oil. Our driveway is just before the yellow ATV road sign on the south side of the road. If you reach the second blinking light for Cedarville, you've gone too far.
