Sunset Kayak Tour
Offered every night — start times vary!
Enjoy paddling Lake Huron when she often behaves like an inland lake. Some nights guests paddle waters that are as calm as glass. Regardless if the sky show is subdued or a breathtaking display of clouds and color, sunset paddles are always a relaxing way to end your day in the Les Cheneaux.
We will do our best to set you up to paddle the last half of the tour into the setting sun so you can enjoy as much of the sunset as possible. And if we're a little slow getting back to shore, we bring along solar lanterns for the kayaks so we can remain visible to motorized boaters.
Sunset & Full Moon Kayak Tour
A few nights each summer, you'll enjoy BOTH a sunset and moonrise in the Les Cheneaux — and as dusk settles you'll paddle a kayak illuminated by solar lanterns waiting for the moon to crest the islands. 2026 Sunset & Full Moon tours are: Saturday, May 30; Sunday, June 28; Monday, July 27; Tuesday, July 28; Wednesday, July 29; Wednesday, August 26; Thursday, August 27; and Friday, August 29.
- Paddling time averages around 2:15–2:30 hours with plenty of time for taking pictures.
- All levels welcome.
- Start times vary based upon when the sun sets.
- Do make sure you've eaten something as dining options may be limited afterwards (typically returning to shore between 9:30–10:00 pm).
- Full moon paddles take place when either the moon is full or appears full.
- We recommend mature teens due to the late evenings.
- Tandems sea kayaks required on full moon tours.
