My North Media visited the Les Cheneaux during the summer and ran a beautiful travel article about their experience in Traverse Northern Michigan magazine in August 2023 — of which Woods & Waters was part of.

We were lucky enough to have our booth at the annual Quiet Adventure Symposium near John Chase and he interviewed Woods & Waters for his wonderful Paddling the Blue podcast. Have a listen!

Read about our full moon kayak tours and the star gazing trips we offered with Mary Steward Adams in 2023. Although Mary is unable to join us this year, we still offer full moon kayak trips and if you want the opportunity to see the stars, give us a call about a custom trip!

Paddling Magazine has Woods & Waters on the list twice! We land under both No. 2: Paddle Over Shipwrecks (see below) and No. 9: Circle Wildlife-Filled Islands.

There are a few shipwrecks in our area, including the DeTour peninsula, far out in Hessel Bay, and off the southern shore of Drummond (with regards to paddling Drummond, Harbor Island is typically the destination of choice). If you're interested in the small wreck in Hessel Bay, the Behling brothers behind mi playground checked it out and posted a YouTube video (watch here). As a note, this spot is far from the mainland and pretty exposed to the "big lake" with regards to wind and waves near a privately-owned island. Although we can plan a trip to paddle over it, conditions may prohibit actually seeing it. This is not a destination for rental paddle boarders or kayakers.
