Spring Migration Birding Hike
There's a moment — usually just after the world wakes up — when everything is absolutely alive and you realize you have no idea what you're hearing. This trip fixes that.
Spring migration turns the eastern Upper Peninsula into one of the best birding flyways in the Great Lakes region — and we take full advantage of it. Join one of our naturalist guides for an unhurried two-hour morning out — a mix of walking and driving to wherever the birds are. You'll learn where to look, what draws certain species to certain spots, how to pick a familiar call out of the morning chorus, and how to start reading the landscape like someone who's spent years out here.
The Les Cheneaux area sits at the intersection of shoreline, wetland, cedar forest, and open water — a combination that draws warblers, raptors, waterfowl, and neotropical migrants in remarkable numbers during peak migration. The North Huron Birding Trail, which runs through this region, is one of the most productive birding routes in Michigan for good reason. Our guide knows it well.
No experience necessary. No rushing. Just you, the birds, and a guide who genuinely loves this stuff.
Offered seasonally during spring migration — late spring through early June, when birds are most active in the morning. Contact us to schedule.
