Some days, the woods are calling louder than the water.
The Eastern Upper Peninsula is kayaking country — but it's also home to trails that wind through beautiful forests, along exposed rock ledges, and out to coastline views that stop you in your tracks. These are full days on foot, with a guide who knows the land and carries a chef-crafted picnic lunch for when you need it most — enough miles underfoot to feel genuinely earned by the end.
We hike in two locations, each with its own character. Both are private, guided, and deeply worth it.
North Country Trail (NCT) — Niagara Escarpment
The North Country Trail through the East Lake area north of St. Ignace winds through shady forest, with stretches where the trail follows the exposed Niagara Escarpment — one of the most striking geological features in the region. Foot traffic only. No crowds. The kind of quiet that's harder to find than you'd think. Wildflowers, fungi, mosses, and biodiversity that rewards a slow pace and a curious eye. Routes range from 5 to 10 miles and can be configured as an out-and-back or a one-way with guest vehicle staging — we'll work with you on what fits your group.
Drummond Island
Drummond Island is an adventure before the hiking even starts. Once on the island, your destination is either Marblehead and the sweeping views of the False Detour Passage overlook, or the Fossil Ledges route through fields and woods to a lakeshore where fossils are embedded in the rock at your feet. We'll talk through which is the right fit when you reach out. About 7 miles out and back. Offered mid-week only on a shared multi-use trail with rocky, mixed terrain that keeps things interesting.
Both locations include a guide, a chef-crafted picnic lunch, and all the local knowledge you could want. No experience necessary — just comfortable footwear and a genuine appetite for a day well spent.
